Collab Fest is a bi-weekly gathering for folks interested in experimenting, both seriously and playfully, with the processes of creating, performing, exhibiting and documenting collaborative artworks. Collab fests so far have included collage, video, noise, performance, presentations, psychogeographical walks, mail art, visual poetry, sound poetry, event scores, dance, sculpture, music, film, installation and conversation. Artworks produced are often improvised and ephemeral, using found objects, junk and refuse in their construction. Ideas related to Dada and Fluxus are in the background of all of the collab fests, and are often a very explicit component of the activities and exhibits. At least potentially, a collab fest is a temporary autonomous zone in which many diverse activities can be juxtaposed and mixed.
