John M. Bennett

Shave Bark

shave the butt head into the dark
gland dancer brace and stuck yr
bread into the stark sand glancing at the
sticky rain saved or broke you said the
parked hand stance the ticking pain boat
thick with grease framed “joker” glue
paid the shark and rancid bickering
,name the floating stick the sea’s same
smoke strewn page and bark

Sound Nod

nod and loud ,dun and sate ,file
envy traced the odd proud one the
shape of miles every face and ear
why sodden crowd gun the nape and
“smiles” tearing chased the blear a
way a pool drinks ,clods ,sound ,one
draped guile steering all the placed
day and stools plopping in the sound
