Six Childhood Performances

1) Book passage on a ship across the ocean. When out of sight of land, write a poem, fold and wrap it in transparent tape, and throw it into the waves. Repeat this every day until land again appears.

2) Stand in a park and repeat the word “Truck” until it becomes completely meaningless and you can no longer pronounce it.

3) Stand next to a river and repeat the word “Bottle” until it becomes completely meaningless and you can no longer pronounce it.

4) Sit in a car and repeat the word “Postman” until it becomes completely meaningless and you can no longer pronounce it.

5) Stand next to a washing machine and repeat the word “Mist” until it becomes completely meaningless and you can no longer pronounce it.

6) Light the end of a piece of rope until it smolders and pray to the sun that it won’t rain tomorrow.
