Jim Leftwich, Sonnets (2017)

Rain

When we are waiting it should be raining.
When things are a blurred sheet of steady
rain, sleep and will if for now clear flows,
sleep and will if for now clear flows. When
the label is a hairy rain, rain wet, wet limbs
raining, steady trees plastic, when things
are conditional and blurred, one rain
invited inverted anger, anger at the angle

of angels, apparently it was an aftersight.
Desires communicate Monday written
everywhere. Insistent leaves blow visions
through blurred thought. I thought it was
predestined, through the glass in the rain
I was a room with a window, sitting away.
